Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about HTMLWallarper.

Does this work with other desktop environments?

Currently, HTMLWallarper is designed specifically for KDE Plasma which has built-in HTML wallpaper support. Other desktop environments may require additional tools or plugins to render HTML wallpapers.

Will this drain my battery on a laptop?

Our wallpapers use CSS-only animations that are GPU-accelerated. This means minimal CPU usage and negligible battery impact. Most wallpapers consume 0% CPU at idle.

Can I create my own wallpapers?

Absolutely! Each wallpaper is just a single index.html file. You can copy an existing wallpaper and modify it, or create one from scratch. We welcome contributions via Pull Request!

How do I customize colors and animations?

Open the index.html file in any text editor. Look for CSS custom properties (variables) at the top of the <style> block. Change colors, speeds, and other values, then save and refresh.

Is this really free and open source?

Yes! HTMLWallarper is released under the MIT License. You can use it, modify it, distribute it, and even use it commercially. No attribution required, though it's appreciated!
